The candidates those who are applied for the Ph.D programme will be called if they are found eligible after scrutinizing to present a power point presentation of their proposed research work in front of the experts. The selection of the candidates purely on the recommendations of the screening committee.

Before the doctoral committee meeting, research scholar has to visit and discuss with various departments of Sathyabama University, regarding the subjects(which are related to your field of research) and syllabus which are available in PG Courses (preferably in week end programmes) and submit it to the supervisor. This will be helpful for the supervisor and Doctoral Committee Members to decide the course during the First Doctoral Committee Meeting.
Research scholars are also requested to submit their Post Graduate level subjects and syllabus to Doctoral Committee which will be helpful to them for not repeating the same as a course work subject.

Try to complete the First Doctoral Committee meeting as early as
possible with prior intimation to Dean (PG Studies & research) failing which Ph.D provisional registration will be cancelled without citing any reasons.

All PG holders have to write 4 course works. All M.Phil holders have to write 2 course works. All course work should be in the Post Graduate level. In Sathyabama University week end programmes are offered in PG level.

The Syllabus for the Direct Study will be framed by the supervisor by taking research area of the Research Scholar into account and should be approved by Dean(PG Studies & Research). After getting approval, the research scholars have to study under the supervisor. The Direct study has to be taken up as a last subject. But approval may be obtained from Dean (PG Studies & Research) immediately after the Doctoral Committee meeting by sending the framed syllabus along with a request letter.

The Research scholars are requested to submit form 2(Application for Course work permission for Research scholars) to Dean (PG Studies & Research) to attend the course work classes at Sathyabama University. Last date for submitting the form 2(Application for Course work permission for Research Scholars) will be 31st December for Even Semester, 31st May for Odd Semester. At the end of the semester research scholars have to produce the attendance certificate from the concerned Head of the Departments to Dean (PG Studies & Research) which will facilitate the Research scholar to attend the examination. A minimum of 80% attendance is compulsory to appear for the examination. In the case of Direct Study the attendance certificate should be obtained from the Supervisor.

Yes. The Course work prescribed by the Doctoral Committee can
be studied from any other recognized universities in India. You have to produce a course completion certificate with marks from the Controller of Examinations of that university.

A research scholar can do a maximum of one direct study as per the Ph.D Regulations.

You can continue your research work as per the direction of your
supervisor. You have to submit a xerox coy of your course
completion certificate to Dean’s office which can be obtained from the office of the Controller of Examinations.

All research scholars will be called to present a power point presentation and to submit their six months report [Form 1, Form 4 & one or two page writeup about the research work with semester fees of Rs.7500/-(Rupees Seven Thousand and five hundred only as demand draft drwn in favour of Sathyabama University, Payable at Chennai) ] during the month of January, July of every calendar year. The dates for submitting 6 months report and presentation will be announced in this website.

After the completion of minimum period[Full Time: 3years, Part Time (Internal/External) 4 years] with the required research & publication, supervisor can request the Dean regarding submission of Synopsis through synopsis meeting. Along with the request letter from the supervisor the research scholars are requested to submit in the form of bound volume with the following details.
a) Xerox copy of the Ph.D provisional registration order
b) Xerox copy of the Ph.D Course completion certificate
c) Xerox copy of the Ph.D Confirmation order
d) Xerox copies of 6 months report i.e one page write up
e) Xerox copy of the demand drafts (or) printout of fees details from
website
f) Extracts from the proceedings of both national and international conference along with presentation certificates
g) Reprints of both National and International journal publications.

The Research Scholar has to select a guide(supervisor) on his own with respect to his/her area of interest. Guide(Supervisor) has to submit form 3 which is the application for recognition as a Ph.D Supervisor.
A list of approved Supervisors is available in this website. Research scholar may select a supervisor from the available list.

1. Attested xerox copy of UG Degree certificate
2. Attested xerox copy of PG Degree certificate
3. Attested xerox copy of UG Mark sheets
4. Attested xerox copy of PG Mark sheets
5. Abstract (one page write up about your proposed research work)
6. DD drawn in favour of Sathyabama University payable at Chennai for Rs.7750/-(Processing fees Rs.7500 + Application fees Rs.250)

We will receive the application throughout the year. For every calendar year the Ph.D programme will be started twice i.e January and July. All the eligible candidates will be called for screening. Admissions will be made based on the recommendations by the expert committee. The screening will be normally in the month of May and November.

Research scholars have to submit the FORM2(Application for course work permission for Research scholars) and attend the classes at Sathyabama University. Last date for submission of FORM2 will be announced in the website for each semester. During the middle of the semester the Research Scholars have to collect and submit the examination application form at Centre for Research. Last date for submission of examination application forms also will be announced in the website for each semester. At the end of the semester(after the last working day) after submitting their attendance certificate, the research scholars can collect the Hall Ticket from the Centre for Research. A minimum of 80% attendance is compulsory to appear for the examination.
